Two Jaffna university students injured in election clash

The President of the Jaffna University Students Association Mr.Parajasingham Paheerathan and another student Mr.Rajaratnam Puviraj were injured when a group of Eelam Peoples' Democratic Party (EPDP) activists is alleged to have attacked them Thursday at about 11.30 a.m., police said.
Both injured were admitted at the Jaffna teaching hospital. The Jaffna Police commenced immediate investigation into the alleged attack on university students. Student sources said army and police personnel providing protection to EPDP activists also joined in the assault against students. Both groups confronted each other near Kokuvil Manchavanapathi Pilliayar Temple during election campaign Thursday morning. University student sources claimed that EPDP activists first started attacking them.
