Omanthai checkpoint to close for election arrangements

The Omanthai check point along A9 highway will be closed from 1 p.m. on April 1st to 5 p.m. for civilian movement and transport of goods to enable civil and army authorities to make arrangements for general election, the Commissioner of Elections Mr.Dayananda Dissanayake said Saturday in a press release.
The Omanthai check point will be opened on April 2nd from 4 a.m. till 5 p.m. for the conduct of general election and buses carrying voters from the LTTE held Mullaitivu and Vavuniya districts would be allowed up to the polling stations with the head count by the police. 64 clustered polling stations will be located at Omanthai Maha Vidiyalayam for 60,006 voters in the LTTE held Mullaitivu and Vavuniya districts to exercise their franchise in the April 2 general election, the press release further said.
