80% vote in Trinco clustered booths

About ninety percent voters in the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam
controlled areas in the Trincomalee district exercised their votes in the
general election that concluded Friday evening 4 p.m. "Across Trincomalee
seventy two percent voters exercised their franchise," said the Trincomalee District Returning Officer Mr. Gamini
Rodrigo said Friday evening.

In villages Nilaveli, Kuchchaveli, Thiriyai and Pulmoddai in the north of
Trincomalee town more than seventy five percent voters exercised their
franchise. Likewise in the Trincomalee town and its suburbs voting percentage was
between sixty to seventy. Fifteen polling stations were located for voters residing in LTTE
controlled areas in the district. Of them seven were located in
Kattaiparichchan for 5656 voters in Muttur east villages and eight polling
stations were located in Mahindapura for 4581voters in LTTE Eachchilampathu
division. Clustered polling stations for 2153 voters residing in LTTE held
villages, Pattalipuram, Thangapuram, Srinivasapuram, Sinnakulam,
Iththikulam, Pattalipuram, Veeramanagar, Nallur, Malamunthal were located
Alhambra Vidiyalaym in Thoppur in the government controlled areas. Of these
voters eighty percent had voted in Friday's general election, sources said.
