TNA wins two parliamentary seats in Trincomalee district

Tamil National Alliance (TNA) obtained two seats in Trincomalee obtaining 69,087 votes, nearly 4,000 votes more than its nearest rival  Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC). The counting of preferential votes in the Trincomalee electoral district  commenced Saturday morning in the counting centres located in the Trincomalee district secretariat.

The counting of the votes received by political parties and independent groups concluded Saturday early morning. Mr.R.Sampanthan and Mr.K.Thurairatnasingham, former parliamentarians are 
reported to be leading in the counting of preferential votes, TNA sources said. The results of the Trincomalee electoral district   follow: - Tamil National Alliance (TNA)  69087- 2 seats
 Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) 65191- 01 seat
 United Peoples Front Alliance (UPFA)-31053- 01 seat
 United National Party  (UNP)- 15693

above result later, district secretariat sources said Votes received by small parties and independent groups are not included in 
the above
