The poster said, "We request individuals or sport clubs not to participate in SLA sponsored sports competitions and other sports activities." The SLA has been organizing sports competitions and other sports related activities in the Jaffna district annually to mark the Tamil-Sinhala New Year day celebration since the signing of the ceasefire agreement by the United National Front government and the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam. This year also the SLA has been organizing sports competitions and other activities involving the civilians in various parts of the district, sources said.
