Resettlers in Thenmaradchchi HSZ to get livelihood assistance

The Jaffna District Secretary and Government Agent, Mr.S.Pathmanathan, Tuesday directed his officials to expedite the payment of livelihood assistance to
resettled internally displaced families in the high security zones in Thenmaradchi division in Jaffna district, authoritative sources said.
A meeting of the Jaffna district rehabilitation, resettlement co-ordinating
committee was held Tuesday in the Jaffna district secretariat with
Mr.Pathmanathan in the chair, sources said. Divisional Secretariariat and heads of government departments in the Jaffna
district attended the meeting, which discussed in detail the assistance to
be provided to resettled families in high security zones and other areas in
the district. Mr.Pathmanathan instructed his officials to give priority in granting
payment of livelihood assistance of Rs 25,000/= to each family resettled in
the high security zones in the villages, Thanankilappu, Maravanpulo and
Kaithady-Navatkuli areas in Thenmaradchchi division, sources said. Meanwhile Thenmaradchchi Divisional Secretary Mr.S.Srinivasan said Tuesday
that till Monday 73 internally displaced families have resettled in their
lands, which are located in these villages. He added that action is being taken to organize rural rehabilitation
co-ordinating committees in areas where resettlement has taken place to
facilitate the payment of livelihood assistance, sources said.
