Vanni Development Directors head to Philipines for training

A five member group from Kilinochchi Non-Governmental Organizations left for Manila, Philipines Sunday to undergo three weeks training in Rural Development funded by the Worldbank, sources from Kilinochi said.

Yen Center, where the training is scheduled to take place, is a 54-hectare campus located 35 km outside Manila in Cavite Province of the Philippines

Participants in the training at the International Institute of Rural Reconstruction (IIRR) include Director of Village Upliftment Project, Anbarasan, Director of The Economic Consultancy House (TECH), Sunderamoorthy, Deputy Director of Tamil Rehabilitation Organization (TRO), Iniyavan, and Director Centre for Women's Development and Rehabilitation (CWDR), Kalaimagal. The training session is for "Senior and mid-level development managers, and covers development issues, managing sustainable and people-centered development programs, and managing development organizations. It addresses aspects of program and project planning, implementation and evaluation. Participants are introduced to real-life experiences in rural development," the program literature said.
