Gnanavel appointed Head of LTTE's Vavuniya Political Wing

Liberation Tigers appointed Gnanavel as their new Head of Polltical section for Vavuniya district, sources in Vavuniya said. Outgoing Vavuniya head, Elilan, introduced Gnanavel to the security forces commanders and to the Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission (SLMM) at the Vavuniya SLMM's office Monday.

Vanni Sri Lanka Army (SLA) Commander Major Gen.Sisira Wijasooriya, Col.Senanayake, Senior Superintendent of Vavuniya Police, B.J.Miskin and SLMM's Sri Lanka Government representative P.S.Abdulla participated in the meeting.

Discussions centered on promoting better understanding between the security forces and the LTTE in Vavuniya district, sources said.

Elilan the former Vavuniya LTTE head has been transferred to lead the Trincomalee district LTTE political section.
