US diplomat Rocca arrives in Colombo

Ms Christina Rocca, US Assistant Secretary of State for South Asian Affairs arrived in Colombo Thursday around 4.30 p.m. on a four day visit to hold talks with the President Ms Chandrika Kumaratunge and government leaders on issues ranging from the peace process, aid and investments, US embassy sources said.
A team of US State Department officials accompanied her, sources said During her stay in Colombo she is to pay a short visit to Trincomalee Saturday and would attend an event to distribute fishing boats and gear to the Kasthurinagar Fishing Co-operative Society under a USAID project. The same day she would visit the Trincomalee campus of the East University where a training programme on Nonviolent Communication Skills for youth in Trincomalee district with the financial assistance of the USAID is in progress since April 24, sources said.
