'TamilNation' website reactivated
[TamilNet, Saturday, 15 May 2004, 14:39 GMT]
TamilNation.org, a widely popular website, which covers topics related to Tamil National struggle and Tamil culture, has been reactivated. The site which first appeared in 1998, was closed for undisclosed reasons on 30th June 2001.
The site is run by Nadesan Satyendra, a prominent attorney, well known for his intellectual and legal contributions to the Tamil struggle.
When the site first appeared, a reader wrote of the site, "This is an enormous effort. And is a great beginning. I hope it grows both in content and in readership, to make the 'togetherness of the 70 million Tamil people' really happen. I sincerely believe this is a need of the times, to nurture and foster the brotherhood feeling of all Tamil across national boundaries created by the colonial era. Also Tamils do need a land of their own." On the day of its closure, a dismayed reader wrote, "Tamils have lost an interactive library and your guidance of its development. I miss the resources on all subjects related to Tamils... You have taught the Tamils one great lesson -'Tamils should build institutions that would not perish on the will of individuals and the wish of other communities.'" Mr.Satyendra is the son of Senator Nadeson Q.C and was the Defence Counsel for Nadarajah Thangathurai and Selvarajah Yogachandran (Kuttimani) of Tamil Eelam Liberation Organization (TELO) in the 1981 trial which first drew wide attention to Tamil National Struggle.
