Parents of Mr.Nadaraja Tharasingham of Point Pedro Wednesday lodged a complaint at the Jaffna regional office of the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka (HRCSL) that his son who was handed over to them by the LTTE in the presence of HRCSL officials recently is being intimidated by the soldiers of the Sri Lanka Army (SLA) for being in the LTTE, civil rights sources said.
Mr. Tharasingham and eight others opted to leave the LTTE on their own and they were handed over to their parents at an event held at the LTTE Jaffna district political office on May 12th in the presence of HRCSL officials, sources said A group of SLA soldiers on May 16th had gone to the house of Mr. Tharasingham and intimidated him and his parents. They were also ordered by the soldiers to come to their SLA camp in the village for interrogation. " Hence we have come to the HRCSL office and make this complaint to ensure safety for my son,” said the father of Mr. Tharasingham in the complaint handed over to the Jaffna HRCSL office Wednesday.
