Foot pilgrimage From Jaffna to Kathirgamam

More than thirty hindu devotees have registered to begin
a pilgrimage from Sannithi Murugan Temple in Jaffna to the
Kathirgamam Murugan Temple in the South of Sri Lanka by foot
Friday, local reports said. The pilgrimage was a regular annual
event that got suspended more than a decade ago due to war.

The distance is close to 400km and the pilgrimage will last
nearly three months according to organizers of the event. Some devotees joining the pilgrimage are from Batticaloa district, report said. The journey will take the devotees first to Aavarangal Sivan
Temple, then to Madduvil Amman temple and will reach
Vatrapallai hindu temple in Mullaitivu district. The route will
then take them to Pulmoddai, Mutur, Pottuvil, Eravur and other Eastern towns before reaching the temple in the Southern tip of Sri Lanka. The devotees will reach the temple in time for its popular annual festival.
