Neervely SLA post attacked

The Liberation Tigers attacked a SLA sentry in Neervely in Jaffna this afternoon around 1 a.m. wounding one soldier. The soldier was rushed in an ambulance to the Palaly military hospital.
Meanwhile, the bodies of four persons suspected to be members of the Liberation Tigers were handed over to the Jaffna hospital today by the Sri Lankan Police at Chavakachcheri. Jaffna Police sources said that the four were killed in a clash between the Liberation Tigers and the Sri Lankan army late last night on the Naavatkuly - Kerathivu road. Details of the fighting are not known. The report filed by the Chavakachcheri Police said that the four bodies were found in a cordon and search operation in the area following the fighting. Hospital sources said that there is some indication that the dead persons may have taken cyanide after being wounded. The SLA's Palaly HQ has not officially said anything about the incident. SLA sources in Jaffna said today that a large number of troops backed by armour had moved into Vadamaradchi east today. The army is not present in this region on the south eastern coast of the Jaffna peninsula.
