ADB Vice President to visit Jaffna Thursday

The Vice President (Operations) of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), Mr.Liqun Jin, is to pay a one-day visit to Jaffna district on May 27 and will participate in events related to three development projects launched by the ADB funded North East Community Restoration Development (NECORD) project. He will also
visit land mine sites in Jaffna district, sources said.

Richard Vokes, ADB Country Director Mr.John R.Cooney, Deputy Country
Director Mr. Robert Gordon Rinker will accompany him, sources said. Mr.Liqun Jin will lay the foundation stone for a new building for the Thondamanaru Veeragathipillai Maha Vidiyalayam. Later he will declare open a new school building at Valvettithurai Sithamabara College, sources said Mr.Liqun Jin will travel to Thenmaradchchi and will open a new medical ward at Chavakachcheri hospital. Thereafter he will visit land mine sites in Jaffna and Navanthurai housing scheme. Mr.Liqun Jin is to attend a conference at the Jaffna district secretariat and hold a general discussion, sources said.
