Army withdraws from Vadamaradchi

The Sri Lankan Army withdrew from several areas in Vadamaradchi east around 10.30 a.m. this morning according to latest reports from Jaffna. SLA troops which advanced towards Naagarkovil are still in the area said sources.
Residents said that the army had shelled some villages in the region heavily. The damages were not known. The SLA units which went into the Amban-Kudathanai area arrested a civilian, Vanniasingham Karthigesu, 50, father of five children. Meanwhile the Liberation Tigers said in a press release issued yesterday that 4 Sri Lankan policemen were killed in the attack on Kudapokkana police station on Saturday. "LTTE forces did not suffer any casualties" the press release said further.
