Canadian expatriates assist Trinco Children's Shelter

Expatriate Tamils in Canada gifted a consignment of food, clothes and learning materials to about sixty students sheltered in "Happy Home," a children's shelter, located in Chenaiyoor Central College in the Liberation Tigers controlled Muttur east in the Trincomalee district.
The assistance was provided through the Tamil Rehabilitation
Organization (TRO) in Trincomalee district to mark the first year anniversary of the children's home, sources said. The distribution event was held last Sunday at Chenaiyoor Central College with Principal Mr.K.Ratnasingham in the chair. The guests were Ms.Kaaronja, Trincomalee district women wing head of the LTTE, TRO District Director Mr.K.Mathavarajah, TRO Project officer Mr.V.Kalaivarnan, NEIAP Muttur co-ordinator Mr.K.Selvaratnam, TRO Muttur co-ordinator Mr.P.Gopalasingham, Sewa Lanka co-ordinator Mr.K. Ramalingam, SEDO co-ordinator Mr. Ravindran and several other village level officials participated in the event. Guests in their speeches stressed the urgent need for assistance to the children cared for in many shelters. They thanked the two Tamil expatriates in Canada for their timely assistance to the students of Happy Home.
