Black Tigers Day celebrated in Trincomalee, Muttur

Black Tigers Day was celebrated in Trincomalee district Monday at two
places, one at Chenaiyoor Central College ground in the Liberation Tigers
controlled Muttur east in morning and in evening in the government
controlled east port town. Political and military activists of the LTTE in
Trincomalee district addressed the event held in Sivankoviladi grounds in
Trincomalee town Monday night, sources said.
Sri Lanka Police provided tight security to the Black Tigers Day event held
in Trincomalee town, sources said. At the event held in Chenaiyoor Central College hall Mtr.Prakash, LTTE
Trincomalee district administrative head lit the common flame of sacrifice.
Mr. Venthan, head of the Thamileelam Forest Conservation Board head hoisted
the Thamileelam national flag. Mr.S.Thangan, head of LTTE Muttur division,
Trincomalee district parliamentarian Mr.K.Thurairatnasingham, and
Principals of Kadatkaraichcenai and Santhosapuram schools delivered
commemorative speeches. In Trincomalee town Mr.Mathivaanan, head of the LTTE's Trincomalee District
Martyrs Division lit the common flame of sacrifice. Mr Iynkaran, district
deputy political head lit the flame of sacrifice to the photograph of
Captain Miller, the first Black Tiger and garlanded it. Trincomalee
District Women Martyr Division head Ms Yalisai lit the flame of sacrifice
and garlanded he photograph of first woman Black Tiger Ms Angayarkanni.
Thereafter parents and relatives of the eighteen Black Tigers of
Trincomalee district lit the flame of sacrifice and garlanded their loved ones. Earlier photographs of Black Tigers displayed in a vehicle designed as a
ship were taken in a procession to the venue.
