Missing fishermen return safe

Three fishermen Mr.S.Ruban and Mr.T.Sriskandarajah of Inbaruty and Mr.T.Subramaniam of Viyaparimoolai in Vadamarachchi division who were reported missing since Sunday returned safely Tuesday around midnight, fisheries sources said.

The fishermen said while they were fishing in deepwaters, the engine developed a fault and their boat started drifting. They added that luckily some TamilNadu fishermen fishing close to them saw their plight and rescued them.

Indian fishermen towed their boat to the coastal area in Tuticorin in South India for repairs.

Indian boatmen later escorted the fishermen to Sri Lankan territorial waters.

All the three Jaffna fishermen arrived Vadamarachchi coastal area safely in their boat, fisheries sources said.
