Soccer tournament in Trinco in memory of Lt Seelan

Trincomalee district sports section of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) sponsored Foot Ball tournament under the auspices of Trincomalee Foot Ball League to mark the twenty first death anniversary of senior military leader Lt.Seelan (Charles Antony) was inaugurated Wednesday in Trincomalee Mc Heyzer Stadium.

Lt Seelan's brother Mr.N. Puvanendran lit the flame of sacrifice and garlanded his brother's photograph. Mr.S.Elilan, Trincomalee district political head of the LTTE lighted the common flame of sacrifice and followed by Trincomalee district deputy political head Mr.Iynkaran, Thamileelam Resurgence Forum head Mr.Sanjiv and North East Provincial Sports Director Mr.T.Arunagirirajah.

Later Mr.Elilan accompanied by Mr.Sanjiv and Trincomalee district LTTE sports head Mr. Theepan was introduced to the two teams, Palaiootu Sports Club and St.Antony's Sports Club, which participated in the first match. About forty football teams in the Trincomalee district are participating in the 5-a side tournament, sources said.
