Copies of a Tamil weekly 'Thinamurasu'', published in Colombo by Eelam
Peoples Democratic Party (EPDP) were burnt in Jaffna by unidentified
persons Wednesday evening, EPDP sources said.
The sources said an unidentified group abducted a motorcycle courier transporting bundles of Thinamurasu copies along the Jaffna-Point Pedro road to be distributed to agents. Later bundles of the paper were found burnt in a shrub jungle behind the Seguntha Hindu College in Kalviankadu, a suburb in Jaffna town, the sources said. But the motorcycle was found parked at the site without being damaged, police said. Police officials rushed to the site on receipt of information and recovered the motorcycle and commenced an investigation into the incident. The EPDP is a parliamentary ally of Sri Lanka’s ruling United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA)
