GOSL Peace Secretariat head to visit Batticaloa

Mr.Jayantha Dhanapala, Secretary General of the Peace Secretariat of the
Government of Sri Lanka (GOSL) is scheduled to visit Batticaloa Friday to
hold talks with the local heads of State armed forces and Police and
representatives of civil organizations to study the ground situation of the
volatile Batticaloa district, sources said.
 This is first official visit of Mr.Jayantha Dhanapala to North East
province after he assumed as Peace Secretariat Secretary General under the
new United Peoples Freedom Alliance (UPFA), which came to power in the
April 2 general election, sources said. Mr. Dhanapala is likely to visit Jaffna district after Batticaloa. But no
definite date has been fixed for Jaffna visit, media sources in Colombo said.
