Six Pt. Pedro fishermen said missing

Six fishermen who set out to sea on Friday, 16 July, from Inparutty, a coastal suburb on the outskirts of Pt. Pedro town in Jaffna, are missing relatives said. A search party returned empty handed, said a spokesman for the local fisheries society.

The missing fishermen's families said they feared the worst, as some Indian trawlers that poach in the waters off Pt. Pedro may have attacked the three smaller fibre glass boats in which they had set out, as had happened once in the past. 12061
