Danish de-mining group recommences operation in Jaffna

The Danish de-mining group resumed its operation in Point Pedro-Katkovalam area in the Jaffna district Thursday after suspending demining in the area following the theft of a consignment of mines removed and stored there, sources said.

Danish de-mining group now employ security personnel in areas where removed mines are stored, sources said.

Meanwhile, Point Pedro police has launched investigation into the theft of removed live mines from Katkovalam on a complaint made by the Danish de-mining group, sources said.
