Social mobilization workshop held for Kanniya resettlers

Tamil Rehabilitation Organization (TRO), sponsored by the North East Community Restoration Development (NECORD) project conducted a five day social mobilization workshop for resettled villagers in Kanniya located about eight km off northeast of Trincomalee town.

Members of resettled families in the Kanniya village which was devastated by two decades of war attended the workshop which focused its attention on strengthening unity among resettled people, to implement environmentally development projects and to ensure maximum use of resources available in the village for development, sources said.

The workshop started on July 26th and concluded on July 30th.

Mr.S. Sothilingam, Project Officer for children welfare activities, Mr.K.Gnanaselvam, District Environmental Officer, Mr.V.Kalaivarnan, TRO Project Officer in Trincomalee and TRO Trincomalee district activist Mr.C.Kumarakurubaran also spoke at the inaugural event.

The event was presided by TRO Kanniya co-ordinator Mr.S.Kanaganayagam, sources said.
