Japan funds training for Trinco mechanics

Twenty-two mechanics of Trincomalee district Saturday completed a five-day training course on maintenance of outboard motors organized by the Association of Overseas Technical Scholarship (AOTS), Japan and implemented by Yamaha Motor Co.Ltd, Japan in co-operation with Associated Motorways Ltd, Sri Lanka.

Trincomalee district parliamentarian Mr.K.Thurairetnasingham awarded certificates to the mechanics that included members of all three communities at an event held Saturday evening at Nema Beach Hotel, Trincomalee. "Sri Lanka has plenty of sea resources. But it is a pity to note that all resources available could not be harnessed properly towards the economic development due to ethnic strife. Sri Lanka could attain economic stability on par with other developed nations if a permanent resolution to the conflict is found," said Mr.Thurairatnesingham delivering his keynote address at the event as the chief guest. Other guests were Assistant Director of Fisheries Mr.Thowfeek and Mr.Shoichi Mitsui of Overseas market Development Operations of Yamaha Motor Co.Ltd in Japan. Assistant Director of Fisheries Mr.Thowfeek, Mr.Shoichi Mitsui and, a
mechanic who completed the training Mr.M.Vettivel also spoke. The chief guest awarded certificates with kits to mechanics on completion of the training course.
