TECH opens district office in Mannar, donates Solar panels

The Economic Consultancy House (TECH), a Non-Governmental Non-Profit Sharing Organization registered with the Government of Sri Lanka, opened its Mannar district office in Aandankulam in Adampan district Wednesday, sources in Mannar said. During the event, four selected Mannar schools received photo-voltaic lighting systems obtained from funds donated by TECH branch in the US, organizers of the event said.

Deputy Head of LTTE Political Wing, S.Thangan and Mannar district LTTE Head of Political Wing, Iniyavan participated as special guests at the event attended by representatives of several Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) , Principals and staff of several Mannar schools and members of the public.
At the opening ceremony, Thangan hoisted the Tamileelam flag. Director of Mannar Heros family Welfare Organization, Thirukumaran, Director of TECH Infrastructure Development, Kugan, UNDP representative , Mr Muralitharan, TECH Head of Planning, S.Sugunana and Iniyavan, lit the ceremonial lamp, according to sources attending the ceremony.

Mannar district JICA resident representative, unveiled the name board for the building. UNDP Engineer, Prem, officially opened the building by cutting the ribbon.
Head of TECH Mannar, K.Prabha, presided the events that followed the opening ceremony.
As the first event, four selected schools in Mannar, located in areas that do not have electricity supply, were presented with complete solar lighting systems. Director of TECH, M. Sunderamoorthy, UNDP representative, Murali, President of Consortium of Mannar District NGOs, P.Mariyanayagam, Principal of Adampan Roman Catholic School, Thevathas and Mr Thangan spoke.
As part of the Tree Planting day activities, supported by UNDP, ceremonial planting of seedlings took place and selected members of the public were presented with additional seedings.
