Paramilitary group receives education on Rights issues

Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka (HRCSL) has been implementing a programme to educate the rank and file of Tamil political parties and armed Tamil groups in Jaffna district on safeguarding human rights and preventing abuses of such rights, HRCSL sources said
First in the series a seminar was held Wednesday for members of Eelam Peoples' Revolutionary Liberation Front (EPRLF)- Varathar group, sources said. Jaffna regional co-ordinator of HRCSL Mr.Ruwan Chandrasekara and his associate Mr.S.Feroz and a leading human rights lawyer Mr.M.Remedius addressed the seminar held at the office of the EPRLF (Varathar) group, sources said HRCSL sources said in the coming weeks, similar seminars and workshops are to be held for members of Tamil Eelam Liberation Organization (TELO), Peoples Liberation of Tamil Eelam (PLOTE), Eelam Peoples Democratic Party (EPDP) and other political parties and armed Tamil groups, sources said.
