Jaffna prepares for Heroes' Day celebrations

Students, public servants and members of public are giving a new look to Heroes' cemetaries in Jaffna district in preparation for the Maveerar Day which falls on November 26, sources said.
Heroes cemetaries in Kopay in Valigamam division, Ellankulam in Udupiddy division, Kodikamam in Thenmaradchchi division, and Chaati in Islets division are
under reconstruction through voluntary campaigns organized by several
social welfare organizations. Meanwhile, a discussion on issues related to holding peaceful Maveerar day celebrations took place Friday between the representatives of the
LTTE and Sri Lanka Army at the office of the Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission
(SLMM) in Jaffna district. LTTE political head Mr.C.Ilamparithi and media spokesperson Mr.Imayavan participated on behalf of the LTTE. Jaffna area SLA commander Major General Sunil Tennekoon led the delegation of the Sri Lanka Army. Senior officers of the Sri Lanka Navy and Sri Lanka Police also participated in the discussion, SLMM sources said.
