Batticaloa prepares for Maaveerar Day

Events commomerating LTTE martyrs were held in several Heroes' cemetaries as Batticaloa prepared to celebrate Maaveer's Day on Saturday. Liberation Tigers Military commanders and Leaders of Political wing atttended memorials in Kaluwanchikudi, Tharavai Heroes cemetary and Thandiyadi Heroes cemetary where Tamileelam National flags were hoisted followed by lighting of sacrificial lamp and floral tributes to martyrs, sources said.
 Batticaloa-Amparai Special Military Commander Banu hoisted the Tamileelam flag at the Tharavi Heroes cemetary at 8.10 a.m. Deputy Military Commander, Prabha, lit the ceremonial lamp during the ceremony attended by several LTTE fighters. Kausalyan, Batticaloa-Amparai Head of Political wing participated in the ceremonial opening of the memorial hall containing pictures of LTTE martyrs. Several LTTE commanders, administrators and public attended this ceremony.  Head of the LTTE Military wing for Maavadymunmari Division, Ramanan hoisted the Tamileelam National flag at the Batticaloa, Thandiyadi Heroes cemetary attended by other LTTE commanders and LTTE cadres.
