SLA soldiers clash

One SLA soldier, Madduma Bandara, was killed and another, W. J Niroshan, was injured when two groups of military personnel from the Sri Lanka Army (SLA) clashed at Pallappai 18 km north of Jaffna at 2:45 a.m. today, said sources in Jaffna. The injured was removed to Mandikai Base Hospital, said sources.

Meanwhile a member of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam was killed in an Sri Lanka Army (SLA) ambush at Maavadivembu 25 km north of Batticaloa on the Valaichenai-Batticaloa Road today at 8:30 a.m., said sources in Valaichenai.

The body is lying at the Eravur Hospital, while arrangements are under way to hand over the body to the LTTE through the International Committee of the Red Cross, said sources.
