May day events planned in Vanni

Arrangements to celebrate international workers day are already underway in Akkarayan Kulam, 15 km from Kilinochchi, in the areas controlled by the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), said the Voice of Tigers (VoT) today.

Though VoT did not specifically mention that the event would be held under the auspices of the LTTE, the impression was conveyed by the broadcast.

The celebrations would include a public rally, a procession and a display of floats, according to the radio.

The various trade guilds working in the areas under LTTE control are expected to take part, said the VoT.
