TRO initiates trauma counseling project for tsunami affected

Tamil Rehabilitation Organization (TRO) in collaboration with the North East Provincial Ministry of Education, Cultural Affairs, Sports and Youth Affairs has launched a project to
provide trauma counseling to students and others who are affected by the Tsunami disaster, TRO sources in Kilinochchi said.
TRO has deployed six teams to visit welfare centres to identify and collect
details of the psychologically affected children, women and others who urgently need counselling in the northeast province, sources said TRO representatives met with Mr.R.Thiakalingam, Provincial Education Ministry Secretary at the latter's office and held discussion regarding the survey of identifying students and others, sources said. Mr.Thiagalinkam assured fullest co-operation of his ministry for the success of this project. Members of the eight teams are on field visit in areas affected by Tsunami and are distributing forms to local volunteers to gather information to formulate a comprehensive counselling programme, TRO sources said.
