Shankar Raji dies

Mr. Thirunesan alias Shankar Raji (54), a leader of a minor breakaway faction of EROS died of a heart attack Monday morning, sources said. Shankara Raji is a close assosicate of Mr. Douglas Devananda.

The majority of the EROS leadership, including Balakumar, its de facto leader, joined the Liberation Tigers when war broke out in 1990.

A minor faction of the group stayed in Colombo with the Sri Lankan Army's backing.

This faction was led by Shankar Raji. He worked closely with EPDP, PLOTE and EPRLF (Varadar Wing).
