ADB President to visit Trinco Saturday

Mr. Tado Chino, President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) is to pay a one day visit to Trincomalee Saturday to witness the destruction caused to coastal areas hit by Tsunami and visit welfare centres sheltering victims of the natural disaster, sources said.

He will arrive in Chinabay by a special flight and then to Trincomalee Sri Lanka Naval Base by a helicopter. He will visit two welfare centres sheltering Tsunami victims which are located in the Jayasumaramaya Buddhist shrine in the east port town and Allesgarden, about two km north of
Trincomalee, the sources said. His chief advisor Mr.Y.Kanzaki, Mr.K.Senga, South Asian Director of Regional Department of ADB and Mr. Alessandro A.Pio, Country Director of ADB, Sri Lanka, will accompany Mr.Tado Chino to Trincomalee, sources said. Mr.Tado Chino is to meet Mr.R.Sampanthan, leader of the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) and the Trincomalee district parliamentarian in Colombo on January 16 Sunday morning, the sources said.
