Indian medical team serves in Kuchchaveli

Five-member team of the Medicines Sans Frontier (MSF) of France left
Trincomalee Friday when a fifty member medical team of the Indian Navy took charge of the Kuchchaveli government hospital located about
thirty km north of east Trincomalee to serve the people of the area
affected by Tsunami disaster, health authority sources said.
MSF medical team started its service in Kuchchaveli soon after Tsunami
disaster when hundreds of people were left without proper medical
attention, sources said. A fifty member medical team comprising Indian doctors, nurses and other
workers who
arrived in Trincomalee harbour in an Indian Navy vessel with adequate
medicines and medical equipments, was sent to Kuchchaveli hospital. Indian
volunteers cleared the debris surrounding the hospital and cleaned the
wells in the area and started providing assistance to the affected people,
sources said. MSF team worked with the Indian medical team before leaving to work in Batticaloa, health authority sources said.
