Mr. Lucky Peiris, Governor of Rotary District 3220 Sri Lanka, speaking to journalists in Trincomalee Friday evening, praised the commitment and devotion shown in the Mullaitivu district in providing relief to the Tsunami victims. LTTE cadres got into action and cleared debris to assist affected people within minutes after tsunami struck Mullaithivu district. This efficiency is urgently needed in other parts of the country, he added.

Mr.Lucky Peiris said while spending few hours in Mullaitivu district he had seen LTTE cadres better organized and maintaining high degree of discipline in implementing relief and rehabilitation compared to other parts of the country. During his stay in Trincomalee he witnessed the destruction caused to the coastal areas and visited welfare centres and consoled the tsunami victims. He also held discussion with the members of the Trincomalee Rotary Club regarding the proposed relief and rehabilitation projects, which are urgently needed for restoring normalcy even to some extent in the lives of tsunami victims. Mr.Lucky Peiris is a leading business magnate in Colombo running a firm "Lanka Hands" specialized in handicraft and a partner in a joint venture related to the production of steel materials with a Japanese firm, sources said.
