Tamil groups seek govt. cease-fire

The Eelam Peoples' Democratic Party (EPDP), Peoples' Liberation Organisation Tamil Eelam (PLOTE) and EPRLF. are meeting this evening to draft a request to the Sri Lanka Government to reciprocate the cease-fire declared by the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) on Wednesday and Thursday (May 6&7), said sources in Batticaloa.
The meeting, which will be held at the EPRLF office in Batticaloa, will also ask the LTTE to extend its cease-fire beyond 7 May, said sources. The LTTE declared a cease-fire May 6 and 7, Voice of Tigers (VOT) announced in its broadcast last night. Olara Otuunnu, United Nations Special Representative for Children in Conflict Areas is in Sri Lanka on a week long visit and is to tour the north and east to familiarise himself of the conditions for children in the conflict areas.
