Sri Lanka parliament to debate post tsunami activities

Sri Lanka's parliament is to debate tsunami disaster that hit the coastal areas in the northeast province and the south of the country on December 26 leaving about thirty thousand dead and several thousand homeless. A decision to this effect was taken at the meeting of party leaders held with the Speaker Mr.W.M.J.Lokkubandara in the chair, sources said.

The two-day debate will commence on February after a statement by Mr.Mahinda Rajapakse, Prime Minister in parliament.

The parliament is to resume its sitting on February 8.
