Two SLA soldiers and a woman police were wounded when the jeep in which they were traveling hit a claymore mine in Kondavil, north of Jaffna town, yesterday around 12.00 noon, said police sources in Jaffna.
The jeep was also damaged in the blast, they said. The SLA arrested thirteen persons following the mine blast for further integration. Many others were assaulted by the SLA in retaliation, said sources in Jaffna. Meanwhile, the SLA soldiers who advanced last week to Kandalkaadu in the Vadamaradchi east, in the Jaffna peninsula, withdrew to their positions in Vallipuram on Sunday, said sources. No fighting was reported. The 18 km. long coast of Vadamaradchi East and its interior are not controlled by the SLA.
