Jaffna to observe hartal Saturday

University Students Union, Students Federation and Tamil Resurgence Movement of Jaffna district have called for a general shut down (Hartal) on Saturday condemning the killings of Mr. E. Kousalyan, LTTE Political Head for Batticaloa and Amparai districts, Mr.Ariyanayagam Nehru, former parliamentarian, and four others on February 7 at Welikanda in the North Central Province, sources said.

Shops, schools, government departments and other non-governmental organizations have been requested by the organizers to make hartal a success expressing the solidarity of Tamil people in the Jaffna district against the killing which took place in the government controlled areas, sources said.

State and private bus services will not be functioning on Saturday, organizers said.
