Solheim in Sri Lanka, 3rd anniversary of CFA

Norwegian Special Peace Envoy Mr. Erik Solheim and Norwegian Ambassador to Sri Lanka Mr. Hans Brattskar arrived in Kilinochchi Tuesday morning to meet with the LTTE's Head of Political Division, Mr. S. P. Thamilchelvan. The LTTE and the Government of Sri Lanka (GOSL) signed the Oslo-facilitated Cease-Fire Agreement (CFA) 3 years ago, on 22 Feb. 2002.
Mr.P.Nadesan, Head of Tamil Eelam Police and Mr. Pulidevan, Secretary General of the LTTE peace secretariat accompanied Thamilchelvan to the meeting at the LTTE Peace Secretariat in Kilinochchi.
Mr. Erik Solheim meets with Mr. S. P. ThamilchelvanMr. Erik Solheim arrived in Sri Lanka on Monday and is scheduled to meet with with the representatives of the Government and the LTTE. He will be participating in celebrations of the third anniversary of the Cease-Fire Agreement in Colombo on Tuesday, according to a press release issued by the Royal Norwegian Embassy last Thursday. He is also scheduled to meet with President Kumaratunga, representatives of the Government and meet with representatives from other political parties, according the the Norwegian embassy. Solheim will stay in Sri Lanka till the end of February.
