Twelve detainees released[TamilNet, Wednesday, 06 May 1998, 23:59 GMT]Twelve persons arrested by the Sri Lankan forces in the Jaffna District on dfferent occasions were released today after being produced in the Anuradhapura courts. Human rights lawyer and secretary of the Organisation for Human Dignity, Miss. Maheswary Velayutham appeared on behalf of them in the courts. Details of the released are as follows: J. Mukunthan (Nelliyadi), T. Maheswaran (Suthumalai south), A. Anirokrous (Nallur). S. Jeyasuthas (Kodikamam), K.Rakuratha (Oorani), S. Varatharasa (Moolai south), M.Ganeshalingam (Maanipai), I.Selvakumar (Alavetti south), C. Selcarani (Navatkulai), A. Sivalingam (Achchuveli) and T.Balaparameswary. They were handed over to the person in charge of the EPDP office in Trincomalee and they are expected to be sent to Jaffna by boat.
