North preschool teachers killed in Tsunami remembered

Sixtieth day remembrance of pre-school teachers and children died in the tsunami disaster in the coastal areas of Vadamaradchchi east division in the districts of Jaffna and Mullaitivu and the distribution of bicycles to tsunami affected pre-school teachers were held in the Mullaitivu district office of the Tamil Rehabilitation Organization (TRO) sponsored by the TRO and funded by Norway TRO under the auspices of the North East Pre-School Development Centre (NEPSDC) Wednesday morning, sources said.

A sum of sixty thousand rupees was handed over to the parents of four pre-school teachers who were killed in tsunami disaster, at the rate of fifteen thousand rupees per head. Bicycles were given to 83 pre-school teachers who were affected by tsunami. Mr.Ganeshalingam of TRO Pre-School Planning Unit proposed vote of thanks. Mr.S. Sivanesan, Vice President of the NEPSDC presided. TRO Vadamaradchchi Co-ordinator Mr.Sivagnanam and the President of the Pre-School Development area lighted the traditional oil lamp. Mr.Muhunthan, LTTE Mullaitivu District Head hoisted the Thamileelam national flag. Mr.S. Selvam, Deputy Financial Head of the TRO hoisted the TRO flag and Ms Angeline hoisted NEPSDC flag. Mr.V.Reagan, Assistant Executive Director of the TRO, Mr.Jeyarajasingham, Jaffna District TRO Director and Mr.Muhunthan, Mullaitivu Political Head made the keynote addresses, sources said.
