Canadian parliamentary team meets Sampanthan

The Canadian parliamentary delegation, which is currently visiting Sri Lanka, held
discussions with Mr.R.Sampanthan, parliamentary group leader of the Tamil
National Alliance (TNA) Thursday afternoon at Hotel Club Oceanic located
three km off north of Trincomalee town, sources said.
According to TNA sources talks centred on several aspects of the stalled
peace process and the possibility of resuming the peace talks.
Mr.Sampanthan is learnt to have briefed the visiting parliamentarians about
the urgency of setting up of a joint mechanism for tsunami reconstruction
programme in addition to war victims. Canadian parliamentary delegation comprised its leader Ms Maria Minna,
Mr.Derek Lee, Mr.Joe Comartin and Senator Joseph Day. Mr.Jean-Philippe
Linteau also participated in the talks, sources said.
