Kavadapaddi residents receive self-employment assistance

Tsunami affected residents of Kavadapaddi village in Amparai district received assistance in the form of sewing machines, boats and fishing nets for self-employment from Tamil Rehabilitation Organization (TRO) a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) working exclusively in the NorthEast, sources in Amparai said.
In an event held to commemorate the third month after the tsunami at the Model Village in Kavadapaddi on 26 March, TRO officials with the assistance of the Smyrna Fellowship Foundation, also donated several desks, chairs and sports equipment to village residents. Meanwhile, to TRO also provided separate building facilities to the Thirukovil Police to assist in dealing with petty crime investigations. The public were previously inconvenienced by lack of space by the Police Officers to hear complaints related to small crimes.
