TRO supplies tents to 120 Muslim families

Tamil Rehabilitation Organization (TRO) in Trincomalee Friday handed over tents to about 120 Muslim families affected by December 26 tsunami in the Jamaliya coastal suburb of the eastern port town. These families have been living in temporary makeshift structures, sources said.

Mr.A.H.Sahul Hameed, Head of the Muslim unit of the TRO in Trincomalee district handed over the tents to the families. Jamaliya was affected by tsunami badly and about 137 families displaced from this traditional Muslim suburb are sheltered in a playground. Only 20 of them are residing in "tent houses" and the rest were not provided with such facilities. TRO Trincomalee district secretariat decided to distribute about 120 tents out of a consignment it received from the German Technical Co-operation (GTZ) under the temporary shelter project to Jamaliya Muslim families, sources said.
