NorthEast co-op employees get salary increase

North East Provincial Co-operative Employees Commission Saturday instructed all
co-operative societies under its purview to pay a salary increase of 2,500
rupees per month to all employees with effect from April 1st, Commission
Secretary Mr.S.Amirthalingam said
The Sri Lanka Government announced a salary increase of 2,500 rupees in its maiden
budget tabled last November in the parliament with effect from January this
year. Accordingly public servants are paid the salary increase from
January. But the co-operative sector employees were not paid till March. Co-op sector employees are to be paid their first salary increase before
New Year celebrations in April, Mr.Amirthalingam who is the Secretary to
the Provincial Governor said. There are about 114 co-operative societies functioning in the northeast
province with about six thousand employees of all grades, sources said.
