Democratic Congressman from Chicago, Illinois, Danny K Davis arrived at Washington Dulles International Airport Tuesday morning 11.45am after his visit to Tsunami affected areas in NorthEast of Sri Lanka. He was received at the airport by members of the Tamil community in Washington Area.
He also visited areas controlled by LTTE to inspect the Tsunami damage and relief efforts there. Congressman Davis assured the welcoming members that he will file a report on his visit and findings, and will raise his concerns regarding the plight of the people in the NorthEast with the state department and the congress. Although several International Organizations including the worldbank in their assessment have said nearly 60% of the total damage due to tsunami occurred in the NorthEast, very few world leaders have toured NorthEast to view the damages.
