A helper of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) was killed and another injured in an attack on a LTTE sentry by an unidentified group Friday early morning around four a.m within the LTTE controlled area, about five hundred meters from the Mahindapura sentry of the Sri Lanka Army (SLA), down south of Trincomalee district along Muttur-Batticaloa highway, sources said.
Mr.Alf of SLMM in Trincomalee rushed to the site where the attack took place, SLMM sources said. Mr.Elilan, LTTE Trincomalee district political head said a nine-member gang in army uniform was involved in the attack after three days he made a complaint to the Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission (SLMM) that cadres of Karuna group had been given shelter in SLA camps in the area. SLMM sources in Trincomalee confirmed that Mr.Elilan had made such a complaint three days ago. Immediately SLMM forwarded the complaint to the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the SLA in Trincomalee district, sources further said.
