LTTE releases captured SLA soldier

The Sri Lanka Army (SLA) soldier, who was arrested by the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eealm (LTTE) on Saturday, was handed over Sunday evening to the Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission (SLMM) officials. The handing over event took place at the LTTE Trincomalee Political Secretariat which is located in Sampoor.
Mr.Siriwardene, a soldier stationed in the 64th mile post army camp in the army controlled area was captured by LTTE cadres Saturday morning around 11 a.m when he entered Thangapuram, a village which is under LTTE control in the Muttur east. The soldier was armed with a T 56 rifle and compass at that time of arrest. Mr.Helge Lyberg, acting head of the SLMM in Trincomalee took charge of the soldier handed him over to the Kaddaiparichchan army camp which is located on the border dividing the areas controlled by the SLA and LTTE, SLMM sources said.
